Park District personnel designated as Starters shall be stewards of the starting times in accordance with the policies established by the Peoria Park District. The Starter’s primary responsibility is to maintain order and control of the 1st and 10th tees while being alert to all activity in the tee areas.

Starters are expected to be friendly, courteous and impartial in all contacts with golfers. The starter’s manner and positive attitude is paramount in setting the tone for the customer’s stay. The starter should be especially watchful for new players and/or visiting golfers to ensure that they will not be overlooked because of their lack of understanding of our procedures.

When working with customers, consistency is of the utmost importance.  The starter should display a pleasant and easy-going manner with the public in all situations. Displaying an honest and helpful attitude when working with all players is important to the atmosphere of the tee area.

The starter is expected to work closely with the marshal to alert the marshal of potential rule infractions, such as a group observed to be slow when teeing off.  The starter should be aware that he and the marshal should be continually educating the players to the policies of the course. There will be times the starter will be required to assume marshal responsibility. Starters and marshals should work as a team at all times.
